Many celebrities own property in Spain. Marbella and Costa Del Sol are wonderful attractions for many reasons. Beautiful coastlines, exceptional cuisine and a great way of life are among them. For this reason, many people choose to move to these areas or invest in second / holiday homes there. Here we look at a few famous people who have decided to do that.
Eva Longoria
Eva is often working on filming or her education and entrepreneurship foundation in Marbella. Many celebrities visit to support her non-profit work throughout the year, so rest may be minimal, but Eva’s foundation’s positive impact on families in need is amazing.
When Eva does get a chance to relax, she heads to Costa del Sol.
Simon Cowell
Simon owns a beautiful home located in Sierra Blanca, mere minutes away from Marbella. He previously brought X-Factor contestants to this home, including a little-known boyband, One Direction.
Rod Stewart
Lord Alan Sugar
Lord Alan Sugar is known for many things – the apprentice, his entrepreneurship and his love of cycling being among them. He has a second home in Marbella and can often be spotted cycling around town. He recently came under fire for a controversial tweet about Marbella beaches, in which he made comments deemed to be offensive and even racist. He apologised, but it seems it understandably left a bad taste in the mouths of many.
Vladimir Putin
The president of Russia is no one’s favourite person right now. He owns a large property on the outskirts of Marbella in La Zagaleta. It is reported that he paid a shocking £15 million for this luxury estate back in 2012 but was not happy with it and therefore pulled it down and had it completely rebuilt from scratch. Despite this, you are highly unlikely to see Putin enjoying Marbella sunshine.
Rod Stewart
Rod shot to fame in the 70s and remains a music icon to this day – now in his 70s. He currently resides on Costa del Sol but regularly fits between that and his Essex roots. Maybe time to enjoy retirement, Rod?
While these examples show people with significant wealth, it does highlight the attraction of investing in property in Spain. Whether well likes or despised, these stars are money-wise, so if they are spending crazy sums on beautiful Spanish property, there must be something to it!
